RPF will never let you down - Kagame
MUSANZE- President Paul Kagame yesterday assured residents of Burera in Musanze district that his Party the RPF-Inkotanyi, will never disappoint this country as it has proven in the past. Kagame, the RPF candidate, was speaking to thousands of supporters at the Busogo grounds on the shores of Lake Burera on the third day of his re-election campaign. "There is no way the RPF or its candidate can let you down," he said, to which the crowds responded; "Aho!" which means "that's right." "I have a lot of confidence in you, and if you trust the RPF and its candidate, we'll achieve much more of our country’s development needs," he added. Kagame hailed the residents for protecting Lake Burera through conservation, saying it has now benefited all of them. The lake lay directly at the forefront, way beyond the grounds upon which supporters stood, watching their candidate. Thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands turned up, spilling over the designated area to its peripherals. After listening to testimonies, campaign songs, entertainment by local artists and poems, all with a message of continuing our development path, the RPF candidate assured the residents that the RPF is party with a vision for this country and delivers on what it promises. "When you return home, keep your usual dynamism and let's all keep that day special. Let's vote early enough and vote the RPF," he implored. Earlier, residents sang praises while others gave personal testimonies of good roads, good governance, justice for all, greater agricultural output owing to subsidized fertilizers and other farm initiatives and better homes, not “nyakatsi,” or grass-thatched they previously occupied. An old woman, Mujawamaria Regina said she benefitted from Girinka, a program initiated by Kagame to distribute a cow to each household in Rwanda. She said she feeds her cow on a small piece of land from which she also harvests over 300kg of wheat. Tadeo Milicent, who previously eked a living by collecting water for sale, said he was encouraged to join a cooperative society, which later competed and emerged among the top seven cooperatives in the country. “We were selected to go to Kenya. I didn’t know I would also fly in an airplane one day,” he said, to a prolonged applause. Like previous events, this one was also characterized by entertainment by leading local artists, dances which the candidate joined for over an hour. The event was beamed live on a giant outdoor screen, supported by a high-end sound system.
