 Kagame commends Musanze on hardwork

Busogo - RESIDENTS of Musanze district yesterday received praise for their exceptional hard work from the RPF flag bearer, President Paul Kagame, who said their achievements have benefited the entire country.

"Muri ingenzi " he told a huge crowd at Busogo on his third day on the campaign trail. It was his second biggest campaign gathering after his inaugural event at Stade Amahoro in Kigali.

"You make our country proud," he added.

"The country has achieved so much from you." The crowd went ecstatic and cheered in approval, enthusiastically throwing fists in space and chanting, "tuzagutora ijana kw'ijana (we'll vote for you, 100%).

Kagame had earlier in the day visited Burera to drum up support for his re-election bid. Burera and Busogo are both located in Musanze district.

Speaking in measured tones for impact, the RPF candidate said women in the area today are able to buy shoes, thanks to improved harvests. The good roads, he explained, have attracted tourists and that a number of residents have been empowered to buy cars, motorcycles and bicycles, all from their sweat.

"We wish to continue this trend. The best times are ahead...But we can't reach where we want to be by merely talking or wishing," said Kagame. “The region still needs much more developmental projects including more good roads, health centres, electricity and other utilities,” he said.

Thousands of residents continued to trickle in numbers even as the campaigns came to a close. They converged on Busogo playgrounds and filled the surrounding hills.

The RPF candidate said that if elected, his focus will be consolidating achievements in good governance, justice, social welfare of Rwandans and general development initiatives in order to give every Rwandan better living standards as well as the dignity they deserve.

"So where we are headed, you need to make a good choice," to which the crowd broke into prolonged chants of "Niwowe, niwowe gusa...ntawundi (Only you, no one else).

As has been the practice with all previous RPF campaigns, various beneficiaries gave testimonies, songs  and poems, praising the president for his selflessness. The event was spiced up with entertainment from various local artists as well as dances in which the candidate participated.

Presidential elections are due on August 9th, 2010.
